Chronic Vaginal Yeast Infections

Having a yeast infection as most women know is not a fun thing. They have questions about their chronic vaginal yeast infections, things like how can I properly and efficiently treat my yeast infection, how long will it take to go away, and what are some of the symptoms of a chronic yeast infection. These are all good questions because when we ask questions we get answers that help us understand things about our bodies that help us in the long term.

First let\’s start with what exactly causes a chronic yeast infection. There really isn\’t a difference between a chronic yeast infection and a regular one except for the severity of the symptoms which we\’ll get to later. A yeast infection can be caused by a variety of things, but it occurs when the body develops an excessive amount of yeast and is unable to fight it off. This can happen if you have unprotected sex with someone with a yeast infection, as it can be transmitted through bodily fluids. Your body inherently has a certain amount of yeast in it that helps the body, but when there becomes too much you get an infection.

So how do you recognize the symptoms of a chronic yeast infection? Chances are if you have one you will know it. There will be a yellow or white vaginal discharge, redness/soreness around the vulva and vagina, itchiness, and other unpleasant symptoms. The reason that most women are much more likely to get a yeast infection as opposed to men is because a woman\’s vagina is a perfect breeding ground for yeast to settle into.

Yeast likes a nice warm, moist place to develop and grow and that\’s exactly what women provide. So how can you go about treating a chronic yeast infection? Well it\’s highly recommended that you see your doctor right away or else it could potentially turn into something far more serious believe it or not.
